Pirates of Penzance opens tomorrow!!! It may be a slight disaster, but a very FUN and ENTERTAINING disaster! Like, if you come, you won't want to leave. And you'll like seeing my dad as some drunken Eugene Hutz-meets-Jack Sparrow. It's just all really good!!
Some of the music is so beautiful. Frederic's harmonies with Mabel, the Major's song "Sighing Softly To the River", when the Sergant charges the pirates yield in Queen Victoria's name. I just think all of it is really pretty. And the costumes too! We were so lucky to get such a good costume lady! So, I think some art is going to be in order soonish. Especially of rolicking and frolicking.
In other news, I've missed the old hang-out times where all my friends just drive to Wendy's and eat in the grass. Or we make like 20 servings of pasta for only 5 people. I want that back! Even though it's really sad to think of the play ending, I'll be glad to have a life.
Ok, so in art news: I've been experimenting with charcoal a lot. I've learned a couple things, like don't do charcoal with yellow pants on. And also, creating shadows is really fun! I think I'm going to save this medium for when the macabre strikes me. I'm thinking of doing a series of mirror pictures.
